Tree Felling (Removal)

There are two different ways to remove a tree, these are:

DIRECTIONAL:

This is where a tree can be felled as a whole. This operation will be dependant upon space and safety requirements.

DISMANTLING: (Also known as Sectional Felling).

This is where a tree must be taken down piece by piece. Individual branches are cut using an appropriate chainsaw and allowed to free-fall if circumstances allow, otherwise lowering ropes are used to lower the branches to the ground.

Stump Removal (& Grinding)

We use specialist tree stump grinding equipment and can remove stumps of any size. The tree stump will be ground down to approximately 8" below the ground.

The resulting hole is then filled using the grindings and the excess can be either piled on top or removed.

The stump grinder reduces the stump into manageable chippings that can be recycled and composted.

Tree stump grinding is the most efficient form of stump removal. It avoids the need to dig and disturb the surrounding ground and minimises the size of the hole.

Crown Reduction

This operation involves reducing the overall size of the tree. Using a combination of reduction and thinning, this will allow you to keep a tree which would otherwise outgrow it's position. It is often used on older trees in order to improve their stability and extend their life-span.

Crown Thinning

This operation is used to reduce the sail of the tree. It will help the tree to cope with strong winds. By removing some of the intermittent and crossing branches, it will allow the air to move more freely through the tree and also help light to enter the tree to promote a healthier growth.

Crown Raising

Raising is the pruning operation to raise the crown (the head of the tree). It involves the removal of lower branches which will increase the distance between the base of the canopy and the ground. This is usually carried out to improve access or enable visibility without having to remove the tree. This operation is best carried out before a tree is fully mature, in order to avoid any large unsightly wounds.
